I've never been trained to bartend, but it's something I would really enjoy getting into. I specifically want to learn the art of mixology, but as of now, I'll stick to simple bartending (because according to mixologist, there's definitely a difference). There are a few places I have in mind for starting off as a waitress/server, and working my way up to train to become a bartender. I've picked mostly places that are popularly known for there tasty cocktails, However, I've been told that when creating a cover letter, you're only supposed to provide information on what you can do for the company, not what they can do for you. I want them to know that I want to work my way up to bartending, but I don't want to make my situation worse off by saying that. How do I go about letting them know my goals in a tactful manner? Or should I not speak on it at all?

I am a very feminine boy and I am going on a date soon with another boy, but I don't know what to wear. I am very skinny and wear girl's size 1 jeans and extra small tops.

In reference to making cocktails, what does the phrase "Shake ingredients over ice until frosted" literally mean your supposed to do?
I've always loved Avenged, but lately for some reason I've been going on a total binge, and I sat down and listened to each of their songs on 'Nightmare' finally. Unfortunately, I can say that really, I only like So Far Away, Nightmare, and Fiction. Fiction being my ultimate favorite. Now, I can tell that this is their grieving album, so I can understand the change in music for now, and I can't fully say how losing Jimmy will effect the band's music.
With that said, I wanted to start a discussion with A7X fans on whether they think Jimmy planned his death, or if it was an accidental ODing.
After listening to Fiction, and reading all the rumors, I don't know what to think. In the song, he says, "Not that I could, or that I would. Let it burn, under my skin. Let it burn". In my opinion, he's saying that he has indeed thought about suicide (Also considering the fact that he named the song Death before they changed it to Fiction) but he wouldn't really do it, he would just let his emotions burn inside him instead. Which leads me to believe that it was an accident.
But, then considering that he's written Brompton Cocktail, Afterlife, and Little Piece of Heaven as well... Just makes you think. Each of those songs is about death, or ending your life, basically. (Little Piece of Heaven is a little different, but still about death). He could have been planning this for a long time, and never really had the courage. But again, I don't know.
Also, I've heard that his wife/fiance, whatever she was, cheated on him and that caused him to end his life. Any opinions on that? I've also heard that she got her tattoo for Jimmy removed, and went back to being a porn star, even though she told him she never would. But again, these are all rumors that I've heard. I would much rather hear that she was faithful, and that he wasn't pushed to suicide as his last option...
So, opinions of A7X fans ONLY, please. No trolling, this is a very sensitive subject for me, and plenty others. Respect that, please. Do you think it was accidental, or intentional?

I'm trying to experiment with new drinks, but I'm very picky (about everything, not just drinks). Anyway, it seems like a lot of cocktails include vermouth and whiskey.
For reference, I really love white wines (honestly, all white wines; some are better than others, but I like even the cheapest of white wines). Red wines are okay. Champagne is wonderful. Vodka gets me drunk really fast, and I can take a double shot at once, but the taste is horrid and I try to stay away from it (the only time I've ever gotten badly drunk was with vodka and I've developed an aversion to it since then). I find mohitos all right, nothing great, but not terrible.
And that's all the alcohol I've ever had- you see why I want to experiment more.
So, do you think I'd like drinks with vermouth or whiskey in it?

I am holding a birthday party for a friend and I am doing cocktail and was wondering whether anyone had any good ideas on how to decorate/put together a little cocktail bar? (Just on a work top). I was thinking about a Tiki Bar theme because you can get some really good cheap stuff, however the other decoration for the house are all purple themed and not sure if this would be a little out of place as the cocktails arn't all tropical cocktails either. Any ideas would be appriciated. I just don't want the drink/bar area to look boring

I just got hired as a cocktail server at a really nice lounge/bar inside of a hotel. We have to wear black heels that are at least one inch and the ones I have are not that comfortable for 8-10 hour shifts. Can anyone recommend really comfy pumps that are at least kinda cute?
She was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar when I met her. I picked her out, I shook her up, and turned her around... turned her into someone new.
Now, five years later on she's got the world at her feet. Success has been so easy for her. But she forgot its me who put her where she is now, and I could put her back down too!

Years ago my friend and I went to a Chinese buffet to have a late lunch. And on the dessert/ fruit bar the had a mix of probably canned fruit there that was probably in a light syrup and included lychees maybe peaches and pears... Maybe green grapes..
But there was one odd fruit that was included in the mixture. It was a pleasurably chewy, cloudy-clear 'silicone' like fruit that was in about 2 cm cubes. My friend and I really liked it and we went back to get more and more! We knew it wasn't something unfoodlike that an angry chef would throw in to the fruit cocktail...it was juicy and firm at the same time... The texture was awesome, It was something ive never tasted or seen before in the US so, I'm pretty sure it was imported. This restaurant was in Alpharetta, GA. We even went back another day and asked for it and they didn't know what we were talking about... Language barrier? True story! I still look for it to this day!
Any info or guesses to what this fruit might have been would be greatly appreciated!
lastnight i had about 3 mouthfulls of some kind of lime/coconut vodka cocktail in a bottle thing, and i felt a bit drunk for a little while i guess, but i am not really sure if i was really drunk~

I have all the hammies in a 7 foot long tank.. I have 3 wheels and 2 big logs and 3 waters and lots of food.. They all get along fine but sometimes theyll push eachother of the running wheels? And whenever i put my pet cockatail into the cage they all run really fast but they dont attack the cocktail? So does this mean they are friends or something?

Dr Frank - How many would have to be taken in order for the damage to be irreversable. I'm sure it wouldn't be extremely painful as the pain would obviously end up coming to an end anyway. I'm sure there's a way the hospital can reduce the amount of pain endured. If i were to take 140 for example, and take something to stop myself from throwing up, mixing it with alcohol, would that kill me? I'm not saying I'm going to do this atall, so please don't say I shouldn't do it or whatever, because I'm not going to :)

If I have anymore than 3 pints of lager, I get a banging headache straight away, I feel tired and sluggish, depressed even. But worst of all I'll be up 4-5 times in the night vomiting until there's nothing left to bring up. I've tried drinking wine but this gives me very bad heartburn. I've tried drinking guinness, spirits, cider, ale, cocktails...you name it I've drank it. I always always end up ill, even if I've had a big meal to line my stomach.
I understand everyone reacts differently to alcohol but it has NO positive effects on me whatsoever. The strange thing is, it's not always been like this. When I was 17-21 I enjoyed drinking and I was able to drink a LOT more than 3 pints! What can I do? Is it possible I've developed an allergy to alcohol? It's also called a cocktail at my salon and my hair was very badly damaged by a color correction a month or so ago---when I went in for highlights after my hair trauma the stylist recommended returning for a hair cocktail...I can't risk any more damage to my hair and noticed in a vid online that the entire head is saturated in the toner/color...will this be damaging? what are the risks?

My friend and I applied for a job as a cocktail waitress at a club and we both got hired. Today is our first day for training but im not sure if I want to work there. Ive had experience being a server at restaurants and I know how rude people can be. Is it bad working as a cocktail waitresses? I really dont know what to expect and im really nervous.
This might seem a bit ridiculous but before I seek legal advice I thought I would bring my issue to an internet forum to see where I stand. Please be objective when answering as I will read all answers with diligence.
So my seven year old daughter recently had a gathering with a couple of friends. One of the girls lives a few suburbs over, and as I was late for a cocktail drinks that night at around 10pm- hours after the proper pick up time. I called the parents, who were at the hospital apparently, and told them not worry about it. I then instructed the girl to walk home. I'm not an idiot - I told her to walk on the side of the road so there are plenty of lights and if she sees someone she knows get a lift with them. She's a bit of a ditz and can hardly tie her own shoe laces, so there was no surprise she went and got herself assaulted. The daft girl thought it would be a good idea to use the underground rail system. At night. Let's just say a few swings to the head will stop her from going again.
Anyway, now the parents are disgusted that I let her leave the house by herself at 10 o'clock - but I had made these commitments months ago. This is not the first time I have had to look after her, again their excuse was about their grandma with emphysema - but I figure the old bat would be dead by now.
Who is in the right?
I am looking to buy a cocktail dress and don't want to spend a fortune on it. Anywhere I can get a pretty dress for a decent price? I am looking for something under $40 on sale or something.
